Shari Ulrich Songwriting WorkshopShari Ulrich will discuss all aspects of the craft of songwriting using the work of the participants as a spring board. Participants should come prepared to share a song or two with the group either recorded, self-accompanied, a cappella, or with lyrics (with or without music). Those who are simply curious about the process are also welcome to attend and will benefit from the experience. The atmosphere will be very relaxed and comfortable. Shari will cover lyric structure, song structure, what makes songs work, performance, and other elements of songwriting for novice, experienced, professional and performing songwriters.

“Active participation in songwriting and creative writing exercises will be part of the session. No “hits” are promised but you might get a song or two out of the experience. As well the course will take a look at some of the contemporary masters of songwriting and how their inspiration and techniques work. Songs written or brought to the course by participants will be constructively critiqued if so inclined. The course promises to be intense, stimulating and demanding.”
