Clawhammer Banjo: Tunes and Techniques for Beginners with Martha Cooper
This course will cover posture and hand position, the basic strum and simple left-hand techniques and chords. Familiar folk songs and simple tunes will be used to introduce the clawhammer style of playing 5-string banjo. Experienced bluegrass players are welcome and should start with this course. Students are encouraged to bring a tape recorder and to learn by ear.

Clawhammer Banjo: Tunes and Techniques (Int- Advanced) with Martha Cooper
This group will focus on primarily old-time music (Appalachian music from the southern United States) using the clawhammer style of playing the
5-string banjo. The focus will be on intermediate to advanced techniques and unusual tunings, as well as adding syncopation and drive to clawhammer playing.
Students are encouraged to bring a tape recorder and learn by ear. Ages 16 and (New students are welcome but should contact Martha at 730-1183 ext 51)
